2023 Shanghai Auto Show: Ideal self-driving and pure electric route


On April 18, 2023, Ideal Automobile released the "dual energy strategy", which will make comprehensive efforts in "intelligence" and "electric energy". In terms of "intelligence", NOA navigation-assisted driving in cities with ideal AD Max 3.0 will be pushed in the second quarter, and 100 cities will be pushed before the end of the year. It is worth mentioning that the ideal AD Max 3.0 city NOA navigation assistance driving system software and services free for life, its "assets" will also be fully reflected in the second-hand car trading.



In terms of "electric energy", Ideal Automobile has launched 800V supercharge pure electric solution, and officially entered a new stage of "extended range electric" and "high voltage pure electric". By 2025, it will form a product layout of 1 flagship model +5 extended range electric models +5 high voltage pure electric models. Meanwhile, at the press conference, Ideal Auto signed a "comprehensive strategic agreement" with Ningde Times, announcing that Ideal Auto's first pure electric model will be the world's first model equipped with 4C Kirin battery.



"In the 'smart' part of the 'Dual energy strategy', the ideal smart driving has officially entered the 3.0 stage. The official said that its release will make the ideal car completely free from the reliance on high-precision maps, and can sense, make decisions and plan in real time like a human driver, so as to realize autonomous driving in complex urban scenes, bringing users a truly usable intelligent driving system." Lang Xianpeng, vice president of Ideal Automobile Intelligent Driving, said.


"Under the 'electric energy strategy', Ideal Automobile released the 800V supercharge pure electric solution, combining the high-voltage drive system based on the third-generation power semiconductor, the battery with 4C charging capacity, the thermal management system with a wide temperature range and the 4C supercharge network, realizing the charging efficiency of 'charging in 10 minutes and driving in 400 kilometers' from 2G to 5G era." Ma Donghui, president and chief engineer of Ideal Auto, said, "In the future, extended range electric and high-voltage pure electric power will work in parallel to bring users a replenishing experience comparable to fuel cars, and ultimately achieve the goal of replacing fuel cars on a large scale."


Ideal Auto delivered a total of 52,584 new vehicles in the just past first quarter, up 65.8 percent from the same period in the first quarter of 2022. "So far, the cumulative delivery of Ideal cars has exceeded 300,000 units," said Liu Jie, vice president of Ideal Automobile Business.


The ideal intelligent driving has entered the 3.0 era


In terms of intelligent driving, the ideal car adheres to the full stack self-development. Officials say the ideal intelligent driving will enter the 3.0 era, moving from high-speed scenes to urban scenes.



Ideal Car uses three neural network large-model algorithms in the soon-to-be-mass-produced city navigation assisted driving algorithm: static BEV network algorithm, dynamic BEV network algorithm and Occupancy network algorithm to restore, while NeRF technology is used to enhance network algorithm to achieve higher precision and detail.



Static BEV can fill the road structure even when part of the camera is blocked and the lane lines are blurred, which solves the real-time problem of high-precision map data.


The dynamic BEV can realize that the vehicle appears in the field of vision of multiple cameras at the same time, stably track and perceive the distance and speed of objects, which makes the dynamic BEV neural network have certain "imagination" ability.


On Occupancy network algorithm, you can digitally model the physical world we are in. Real scenes from the physical world can be restored using pure vision, such as garbage cans on the road, temporary construction signs and other "universal obstacles". On this basis, NeRF technology further improves the resolution of Occupancy at a distance, making the system's perception stronger.


Based on the perception results of the above three neural network large model algorithms, the system will output the trajectory prediction results of all traffic participants around in real time. Such prediction results can provide accurate information for users in the decision planning of complex urban scenes.


800V supercharge pure electric solution



Ideal Auto presented the 800V supercharge pure electric solution at the launch. The solution includes an 800V high-voltage piezoelectric drive system based on third-generation power semiconductor silicon carbide technology, a 4C super-charging battery, and a full-stack self-developed thermal management system that improves energy efficiency while increasing charging speed, allowing users to achieve higher charging efficiency and longer driving range in a variety of environments.



It is reported that Ideal automobile's new generation of self-developed electric drive system will use 800V silicon carbide power module to build. The application of third generation power semiconductor Sic technology is the key to improve energy efficiency. The capability of SiC chip also determines the upper limit of electric drive performance. Meanwhile, Ideal Auto's self-developed 800V silicon carbide power module can support up to 480A current output. The volume advantage of the self-developed power module combined with the multi-component integrated design of the motor controller makes the volume of the motor controller compressed to less than 4L and the power density up to 62kW/L, thus reducing the volume and weight of the electric drive system and further optimizing the space and energy consumption of the vehicle.



In addition, in order to solve the problem of charging high-voltage electric vehicles on low-voltage charging piles, Ideal Automobile innovatively provides a deeply integrated booster charging solution. By taking advantage of the inductance characteristics of the motor winding, the electric drive system can be transformed into a booster power supply, so that users can also obtain the fast charging experience of up to 150kW on the charging pile with a voltage of 750V or below, and the maximum charging efficiency can reach 98%. The ideal automotive self-developed high voltage piezoelectric drive system uses the third generation of silicon carbide power module and deeply integrated booster charging function, which not only improves energy efficiency, but also has the function of fast charging to cover the whole scene.


Intelligent charging network layout



Ideal Auto officially launched "Ideal 4C Supercharging Station" and supercharging network. Different from the traditional idea of taking a single charging pile as the product, "Ideal 4C Supercharger station" takes the whole station as the smallest module of product operation. By deploying four cameras and an intelligent perception chip with computing power 128TOPS, intelligent interaction, intelligent operation and intelligent security are realized. In the future, the Ideal 4C supercharging station will also realize real-time synchronization between the station information and the car and the mobile phone App.


At the same time, the ideal 4C supercharged pile can reach the maximum output power of 480kW, and with the Ideal 4C model, it can realize the rapid energy recharge that can increase the driving range of 400km after 10 minutes of charging. Combined with the power flexible distribution function of the station, the output power of each charging pile can be flexibly distributed based on the utilization rate of the charging pile.



In order to enable more ideal car users to enjoy a more convenient recharge experience, the first batch of 25 Ideal 4C supercharging stations will start trial operation before the end of May. Ideal 4C supercharging station will be open to all new energy models, and the supercharging network will be rapidly improved in the next three years. By the end of 2023, Ideal Automobile aims to complete the construction of more than 300 high-speed supercharging stations, covering 70 percent of the high-speed mileage in the four economic zones of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Greater Bay Area and Chengdu-Chongqing region, and the national high-speed coverage rate is expected to reach 40 percent. By 2025, it aims to have more than 3,000 supercharging stations, which will cover 90 percent of the country's expressways as well as major cities.


Model planning: 1 flagship model +5 extended-range electric models +5 high-voltage pure electric models



Next, the ideal car will also enter a new stage of extended range and pure electric parity. By 2025, Ideal car will form a product layout of 1 super flagship model +5 extended-range electric models +5 high-voltage pure electric models.


Ideal Car's first pure electric model will be a pure electric MPV, which Li calls the Whale (aircraft carrier), along with five sharks (ships), which should be sedan or SUV models. Autohome previously reported test photos of the Ideal all-new MPV, which is expected to roll off the assembly line in July, go into production in September, and hit the market in 2023.
